Designed for kids ages nursery to 5th Grade.
Church of the Outer Banks puts a very high priority on loving our children. We believe that our children are among the greatest of blessings.
We live this out in many ways, including equipping parents by showing them what it looks like to be God-honoring, Biblical leaders of their families. Our goal is to create and maintain a warm and dynamic atmosphere in which we point our kids to the truths of Jesus.
Our children’s ministry aims to partner with you as parents in the spiritual development of your children.

Sunday Morning Children’s Schedule
Check-In
When you arrive for our Sunday Worship Service make sure to find our Kid’s Church Check-In Station where someone can help you get your child signed up for the morning.
Once you have checked in, your child is welcome to join their nursery class (3 months-3 years) or the Kids Church worship (pre-k through 5th grade).
They are dismissed to their Kids Church classes from Kids Worship. Parents will present their security tag to a supervising adult upon dismissal.
Nursery
Designed for babies and toddlers 3 months of age to 3 years of age, where they are provided a safe and welcoming environment to play and interact with other same-aged peers while parents enjoy the service.
OBX Kids (Pre-K – 5th grade)
We have three classes that meet and explore their lessons through interactive teaching, videos, and crafts. The classes are broken down as follows:
- Pre-K and K
- 1st-3rd grade
- 4th-5th grade
The children learn the intricate and beautiful details of God’s love as they discover their place in God’s Big Story. Teachers provide a nurturing environment and encourage the children in their faith journey
Children’s Ministry Outside of Sunday Mornings
The Bridge
The Bridge is designed for 4th-5th graders and serves as a program for these children to eventually become a part of Rooted Youth.
We meet every other Thursday from 5:00-6:00 PM.

Meet Joana Houff
Children’s Director
Joana has 14 years of experience in Special Education and is now serving in Children’s Ministry, where she is passionate about introducing kids to the love of Jesus. She has been happily married to her husband Adam for 13 years, and together, they have two wonderful boys, James and Dean.
Joana is deeply committed to helping children grow in faith and purpose, and she finds great joy in being part of their spiritual journey.
