Open Letter To All Men

Here at the Church of the Outer Banks, Every Man Matters! Yes, I mean you. You really do matter! Everything you do every single day of your life matters. This is something I wish I had been told long ago. As someone who came to know Christ later in life, for far too long I did not truly know the impact of my actions and decisions. Consequently, I have learned that there is simply no indifference in manhood. You and I are absolutely making a difference one way or another. The question is, what kind of difference are we making? Are we having a positive effect on those things that have eternal significance? Undoubtedly, at some point in your life you will ask yourself some version of this question. Be prepared to have a good answer. The good news is you are not alone and you don’t have to do it by yourself-nor should you!

By being in community with other men in pursuit of Jesus Christ, you can exponentially increase your probability of having winning seasons throughout your life. Moreover, you can prevent losing when it matters most. I’ve experienced this in my own life, I’ve observed it in others, and it’s based on biblical truths. It seems too simple but it is amazing what God does when you just show up to meet with other men in the name of Jesus. “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NIV) We all need godly men in our lives for a multitude of reasons.

Our most immediate and highest priority is to engage and equip men to pursue Jesus Christ in community with other men. Let Church of the OBX men be described as; “men after God’s own heart.”

Colossians 1:9-14 (NLT)

“So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. 13 For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, 14 who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.”
